Was it disconcerting or enlightening to hear the CEO of Puget Sound Energy say (on local news) that his biggest concern was the outage on Mercer Island, because the people there are very affluent?

There are a lot of elderly retired people living on Mercer Island, stuck in the cold and the dark they may be at a health risk.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it's because there wasn't a single power crew on the island for 3 days.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who thinks MI got special treatment is nuts, unless by special treatment you mean we were ignored longer than anyone.
1. There are elderly people everywhere.
ReplyDelete2. I wasn't implying that Mercer Island residents got special treatment; I was just noting that PSE's CEO apparently considered the residents' affluence of special consideration to the company. One might think this consistent with the current "rob the poor/middle class and give to the rich" political climate in the US.
Having lived in a variety of places around the world, it's amazing to me that what would be considered to be a relatively moderate storm could cause so much damage to PSE's central infrastructure.
can you beat up chuck norris??
