You don't realize how nice warmth is until you spend some time in your own home with your breath fogging in front of you. And we were lucky: we have a gas stove and gas water heater. One of the benefits of living someplace with relatively mild weather and an electricity infrastructure designed to handle winds up to 30 miles/hour. But our POTS telephone (land line) worked fine, unlike our cell phone service, vindicating our decision to stick with tried-and-true technology and service.
