Thank you, Senator Clinton

Earlier this week, Dr. Pieter Tans from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration came to our campus to give a talk entitled, "Tackling the Climate Change Problem: We Cannot Afford to Wait". The evidence for human-activity-driven climate change and the future projections for the possible effects of such changes, even considering the range of possibilities from best case to worst case, is grim indeed. Especially if we don't take immediate action. As Pieter said (approximately), "It's as if we're playing Russian roulette with the gun pointed at our children's heads."

That this came one day after Senator Hillary Clinton proposed a gas tax holiday this summer. Even big Clinton supporters think that this is a bad idea. To summarize: the supply of gas during the summer is basically fixed, so any decrease in taxes will be made up by consumption-driven increases in prices. So, it won't save anyone a significant amount of money.

But what really has me angry is this clear disregard on Senator Clinton's part for the environmental, health, and climate damage caused by increased consumption of fossil fuels. What she is doing is working to load another round into the gun pointed at our children's heads. Her message is a big "screw you" to anyone who cares about the environment or the kind of world our children live in. I'm so angry I had to wait a couple days before I could write something that wasn't filled with profanities.

After cooling off a bit, I've come to realize that the Senator has actually done us all a big favor. She's shown her true colors, clear as day. She's not running for President to do good. She's not interested in the issues. She's not interested in the future of the Democratic Party. And she certainly doesn't care a whit about the long-term impact of today's decisions. All she cares about is Hillary, and she'll apparently do anything to promote her cause. In this manner, she's more like our Dear Leader than any of the other candidates in the primaries have been. I can just see her now as President, appointing even more incompetent buffoons to government office, as long as they're loyal to her.

So, thank you Hillary, for making all this clear. Oh, and screw you. If, by some unfortunate twist of fate, you happen to get the Democratic Party nomination, I won't be voting for you in November. I'll write in someone else or not vote at all before I vote for someone who cares more about her own self-aggrandizement than my children's future.

Global warming is a scam invented by left-wingers to further their anti-American socialist agenda.

Well, it seems there are people who feel this way about all of reality. Unfortunately, Nature will not respect your various fantasies. She will visit privation upon your children in repayment for your refusal to face facts.

I'd have no problem with that, but unfortunately my children live on the same planet. So, like realists everywhere, I will clean up the mess you make. Part of that is making sure that sane folks win elections.
